Origin Story

It doesn't require too much insight to realize where Tony and Joe got the awesome idea for this new classic Short's brew. Originally intended to have a very straight forward name, some legal considerations caused us to rethink our decision, eventually convincing us to introduce Short's fan to our our new beer as "Joyous Almondo!!" I really wasn't trying to use the term "classic" loosely. Expect this beer to be well received and instantly loved, as it was when on it's original debut at the pub back on February 22, 2011. Similar to the Key Lime, Pistachio Cream Ale, and Strawberry Short's Cake, Joyous joins a growing list of fabled Short's beers that most craft beer drinkers assume too good to be true, until they try it, and then become true believers of the exceptional craftsmanship and balance found in such a unique sounding concept beers. Short's version of "Disney Magic" (speaking of getting sued...) via beer. Exactly as the name indicates, this beer literally provides the consumer with a liquid version of an Almond Joy candy bar. Seriously, if you haven't tried it, please do. I am not a huge fan of dessert beers, but can easily appreciate the wonderful showcasing of chocolate, coconut, and almonds all in balance, and extremely complimentary from one flavor to the next. Described as an experimental Brown Ale, all traditional brewing ingredients take back seat to allow the focus to be on the "exotic" adjuncts that make this beer so special.
