GABF sponsorships officially closed. Thanks to our 42 sponsors we will trek to Colorado on Oct. 8gh to arrive on the 10th. We hope to represent Northern Michigan well. Thanks again everyone. We will be compiling data all week to ready the pint cards and t-shirts! Look for yours in the mail!
We're planning our off-season parties once again. So far we have our Halloween party schedule for October 27th and the Brew-Ski Bash for Nov. 24th. At the brew-ski we plan on releasing 3 stouts for the winter: Cup A Joe coffee Creme Stout (with Higher Grounds Coffee), Peanut butter oatmeal stout and T-Money's plumb sweet stout. Details will materialize within the next few weeks. Start planning for your costumes now!
New Beers on Tap: Funkin Punkin and Noble Chaos. Others include: Local's Light, Pontius Rd. pilsner, Village Reserve, Autumn Ale, Pandemonium Pale Ale, Huma Lupa Licious, Bellaire Brown, Chocolate Wheat, Nicie Spicie, and Soft Parade. Others specialties: Rich's Rye IPA, Life's Tuition Raspberry ale, Purple Rain blueberry pilsner, Black Cherry porter.
We have about 60 cases of Huma Lupa Licious bottled up. Come get them while they last!
Check out the current issue of Traverse Magazine! Jeff Smith and Brian Confer did an awesome job on a spread for Short's! Last January they spent an entire day with me in the brewery documenting the madness.
This Sunday we will be doing a toast to beer writer Michael Jackson at 8 pm. Rick Coates will be doing some readings as we commemorate a great pioneer of beer and brewing literature.
We are overhauling merchandise for the fall/winter. Start planning your holiday gift shopping with us. Our hope is to release some new items in time for the Brewski Bash (Nov 24th). Look for another batch of SBC custom crates for the imperial beer series, and information on how to "pimp your fridge." Make your own Short's Brew keggerator - omit bottles and growlers from your house and garage and enjoy fresh pint after pint. Better beer value and get some use out of that old fridge in the garage!
Make time to enjoy our fall color season. The next 4 weeks up here is going to be beautiful as the leaves begin to turn color. Take advantage of our walking/hiking trails close by. Find a kayak and paddle the northern and lower chains or take advantage of the plethora of great local golf courses. Autumn in Northern Michigan is my favorite time of year!
Take note of our hours: Currently closed Thursdays. Open Mon, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday : 11:30 am till midnight - sometimes later. Sunday Noon to 11 pm. We may adjust hours of operation once more in November. We'll keep you posted!
City Opera House T.C. - I was recently informed that our beer was advertised for the Greg Brown Show at the City Opera House in September, and was not available at the show. I claim no responsibility for the mis-communication, as the organizers of the event are responsible for purchasing the beer from our wholesaler. I was completely unaware of this event featuring our beer. Had I known I would have directed the peoples responsible to the right direction. I am even more saddened by the inferior products that were served in lieu of Short's Brew.
Bottles???????? when and where can I get them? Well right now just at Short's in Bellaire. As mentioned previously we have a small stash of Huma 6 packs, anniversary ales and the imperial beer series available in the pub. We are working on plans for a production facility and hope to have it manufacturing beer by this time next year. No promises, as unforseen complications are everpresent with projects such as this. In order for us to feed the demand for bottled beer we simply have to build a bigger brewery. Patience, patience..........
Traverse City Rumor... - Just for the record, we have retracted many of our thoughts and ambitions to move our operations into Traverse City. So no, it is not going to happen, at least at this phase of our growth. We will maintain status quo in Bellaire and continue with our production facility plans off site (hopefully still in Antrim County). When I know more you will know more.
Cheers! and May the Short's BE with you all.....
Joe
