Short’s Brewing Company is looking for a Quality Technician to join our team at the Elk Rapids Production Facility. This role is perfect for someone who is detail-oriented, enjoys beer and science, and takes pride in producing consistent, high-quality beer and cider.
About the Role
The Quality Technician supports day-to-day operations in the Quality Control Lab and brewery. Responsibilities include lab testing, sample preparation, equipment upkeep, and assisting as needed in the brewery, cellar, and packaging areas. Weekend availability may be required.
This is a full-time, hourly, at-will position reporting to the Quality Manager.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine quality control testing and sample preparation
- Maintain lab equipment and general lab cleanliness
- Assist with quality projects and brewery operations as needed
- Support brewery, cellar, and packaging line work when required
Qualifications
- Associate’s degree in chemistry, biology, food science, or a related field (required)
- Bachelor’s degree and/or prior lab experience preferred
- Experience or coursework in one or more of the following is a plus:
- PCR / DNA extraction
- Dilution and titration
- Gas or liquid chromatography (GC, HPLC)
- Mass spectrometry
- UV/Vis or NIR spectroscopy
- Microbiological culturing
Additional Requirements
- Must be 21 years of age or older
- Ability to work weekends as needed
Pay
- $16.00–$20.00 per hour
- Full-time position
