local band Elizabeth Reed. Born to four feisty rockers from Davison, Elizabeth Reed (taken from
The Allman Brothers, “In Memory of Elizabeth Reed”) brings to the stage a youthful magnetism,
veteran showmanship, and just plain mad guitar skills.
Generations are gapped with the musical enthusiasm of this hard-working, classic four piece featuring
Gary “Bones” Jones on guitars, young phenom Vaughn Mortimer on guitars, Ryan Lane on bass, and
rhythm keeper Bryan Mortimer. If pluckin’ and slidin’ are criminal, Jones and Mortimer are partners in
crime. Elizabeth Reed’s acoustic and electric slide mix of head-swaying blues and hip-shakin’ rock is
accented by the throwback charms of a lap steel guitar, mandolin, and organ.
The performance heart lights of the ever creative Gary “Bones” Jones and the versatile
Bryan Mortimer were reignited after teaming up with the talented youngbloods. This is Jones’
fifth reincarnation after enjoying decades of local popularity with The Pranks, The Four Plays,
The Nick Garvey Band, and The Blue Hawaiians (a founding member). Mortimer joined musical
forces with Jones after local success with The Raves and The Deadwoods.
