Diane

Diane is an American Porter brewed with Sumatran Permata Gayo coffee roasted by Higher Grounds of Traverse City. Despite its dark black color, the body is surprisingly light with rich aromas of dark chocolate and freshly ground coffee. Big roasted malt flavors and a modest bitterness, are followed by a relatively clean and dry finish, with prominent coffee tones throughout.

Origin Story

Diane -by Al Russel and Matt Hunter Diane is a concept beer based on the TV show, Twin Peaks. It's a Baltic/imperial porter with coffee. The name refers to FBI agent Dale Cooper's assistant, who you never actually see in the show. He communicates with her by leaving voice memos on a tape recorder. Matt has loved Twin Peaks since it first aired in 1990. After hearing him talk about his love for the show over the years, I finally broke down and binge watched it on Netflix. It was effing amazing. We decided that we needed to make a Twin Peaks beer and Tony, who had also started watching the show, was on board with us 100%. We knew it needed to have coffee in it (major theme in the show) and after some back and forth over the style Matt recommend a Baltic porter and we all agreed that was the best choice. I wrote up a malt bill and sent it over to Tony, who finished up the recipe. Diane is one of three Twin Peaks beers we are doing. The other two are "Fire Walk With Me" which is Diane with chili peppers and "Black Yukon Sucker Punch" which is a barrel aged version of Diane.
