Fizzness

A combination of a Belgian IPA and a Session IPA, big aromas of fresh floral hops and sweet citrus radiate from this light copper colored ale. Bright snappy fruit flavors of raspberry, peach, and orange overshadow any malty attributes and even provide a refreshing tartness. A lively finish full of bitterness, effervescence, and enjoyable spiciness is followed by a dryness that encourages the next taste.

Origin Story

The idea was proposed to take two of these new popular IPA hybrids and create a brand new style embodying qualities of both, we saw no reason not to. Toss in some fruit to help embrace the final fading weeks of summer and you end up with the Fizzness, a Session* Belgian IPA brewed with raspberry, peach, and orange zest. This beer was our first ever collaboration effort w/ another brewery. Brewed together w/ a brewery based in Chicago IL, called 1/2 Acre Brewing Company, this beer was just as much fun to make as it is to drink. The collaboration concept was first conceived when Joe visited the 1/2 Acre Brewery back in May, and quickly realized that the two company's had a lot in common. The first version was brewed this past June, in Chicago at 1/2 Acre's brewing facility, and packaged in 22oz bottles. This past October, the 1/2 Acre crew came up to N. Michigan, and brewed a batch at our facility in Elk Rapids. We decided at that time to package it in 12oz 6-packs. (2010)
