Imperial Mexican Lager Brewed with Lemon and Orange Zest

An Imperial Mexican lager brewed with lemon and orange zest, that has prominent bready aromas and some heavy citrus scents. Big, straight forward grain flavors mix with light lemon and orange qualities, with some sweet corn compliments. The finish is quite dry with a slight bitterness.

Origin Story

Designed by Tony Hansen and brewed by our skillful brew staff in Bellaire, Mega La Mucho is more or less an extension of Tony's theory that 2015 is the year of the Pilsner. You may recall from an email regarding a new beer released back in late May called Old Reliable, that Tony stated: "About a month ago, there was a rumor that Pilsners were making a huge comeback, and they were about to sweep the nation. So, we took a hard look at our Pilsner department and realized that we haven't played with Pilsners much in our porftolio". Granted, an Imperial Mexican Lager is not technically a Pilsner, but by doubling the grain bill of a fairly simple and straight forward light beer style, as well as incorporating flake maize (corn) into the recipie (an essential ingredient in true American Pilsners), the end result had some pretty apparent similarities to a well made Pilsner beer. As for the name, and I guess the origin of the idea, Tony replied: "It all started with a little song and a dance from Skinny. I think we were talking about Mexican beers, and he said we should make one called Mega La Mucho! And then he did the most sexiest disgusting little dance I have ever seen, with pumping knees, wiggling fingers, hungry eyes and a flicking snake tongue action that made me question some of my lifestyle choices. Since Mega La Mucho doesn't translate into anything that makes sense, and I'm pretty sure Skinny's dance is illegal, I decided to just use the name and create a socially acceptable character and beer." Unfortunately, this scenario described by Tony was not caught on tape, or else I would have shared it with you all. However, I was inspired by Tony's remarks and found something that I figured would be a suitable substitute, https://youtu.be/2ssCL292DQA. Enjoy both this classic tune and tasty new brew, while closing your eyes to imagine Skinny's Mega La Mucho dance.
