Tart Ale brewed with strawberry, pineapple, and lactose
Shortsicle is a Tart Ale brewed with strawberry, pineapple, and lactose. With a smooth texture from the lactose and oats, there is a light tartness that blends with the fruit and malt. Orange in color and bursting with tart pineapple and sweet strawberry aromas, this beer is reminiscent of a tart, fruity, summer treat.

Origin StoryDubbed Shortsicle, this new cream ale brewed with milk sugar, orange zest and vanilla beans was conditioned and served on nitrogen, which plays a big role in how the beer's final flavor and mouthfeel is perceived. As you all know, nitrogenated beer posses it's own set of serving requirements, hence why we don't fill growlers of this beer, so in order to properly taste this beer a trip to the source was absolutely necessary. Thankfully, we didn't blow through all of this beer over the weekend and I was able to taste it yesterday, so the description and backstory will hopefully still be relevant at this time (at least until it blows). Brought to us by our long time Elk Rapids early shift brewer extraordinaire, Curt Guntzviller, who generally has plenty to say about most things, but this time put it as simply as possible when asked about the inspiration for this beer: "What can I say, who doesn't love an orange creamsicle? Just the thought brings back memories of carefree childhood summers when the day's biggest decision was whether you were going to play in the sprinklers, or go to the beach?" - Crut The Destroyer Unlike many of our dessert theme beers, Curt took a slightly different route, deciding not to make this a super sweet beer through heavy doses of milk sugar, and instead allowed the nitrogen infusion to help create the creamy mouthfeel and sensation expected of a beer created to taste like a creamsicle.
