A sinfully sour version of our beloved Soft Parade®
Wishful Sinful is an American Sour Ale brewed with strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, raspberries, and flaked rye. Ruby red with a bubbly white head, at first glance Wishful Sinful looks like the Soft Parade we know and love, but a sinful secret awaits. A fruity aroma of fresh berries and just a hint of sourdough bread meets the nose. Sweet berry and spicy rye flavors reminiscent of Soft Parade are accompanied by a bright, sour acidity.

Origin StoryGetting inspiration from our most famous fruit beer to date, the Soft Parade, the boys in Bellaire decided to brew essentially the same beer (slightly lighter than SP though), but then age it in some Cabernet Franc/Merlot and Blaufrankish oak barrels from local wine maker, Left Foot Charlie. Like the Soft Parade, this new experimental barrel aged beer gets it's name from a Doors song, which was an incredibly popular American rock band from 1965-1973 (figured it wouldn't hurt to mention this, seeing as Arch and Steve-O are probably the only people working at Short's who likely saw them live). Dubbed Wishful Sinful (https://youtu.be/l5EsewZ7P3Y), enjoy the light and refreshing similarities that this beer has to Soft Parade, while noting the unique and fun differences that can be imparted from aging beer in different types of wooden barrels. This beer will be one of many new barrel aged creations that we will all have the pleasure of experiencing over the next year, as Short's embarks on a new wooden barrel management program unlike anything we've ever done before. For more information about the direction we will be going with our barrel aged beers in the upcoming year(s), be sure to check out this week's podcast, to hear from Tony Hansen and Mike McQuiston on the exciting future this type of beer curating will have for our company!
