Clean Water Makes Better Beer

In October 2012, Joe Short traveled to Chicago to attend the Great Lakes Water Conservation Conference hosted by the National Resource Defense Council (NRDC), to learn about water quality and protection, topics we hold close to our hearts in Northern Michigan. The conference left a lasting impression on Joe, which ultimately led to the dedication of Superfluid as a beer to bring awareness to the protection of our most valuable natural resource, fresh water.

Superfluid (9% ABV – 100 IBU), available in stores now,  is an American Double IPA with a large, but basic malt bill that explodes with resiny hop aromas! The hop flavors are the focus of this beer due to the lack of sweet specialty grains. Tasty qualities of citrus fruit and berries explode on the palate. Superfluid’s perfect bitterness resonates across the palate, complementing the awesome hop intensity.

We hope that when you enjoy a bottle of this robust American Double IPA (or any Short’s beer), you take a moment to appreciate that what we do would not be possible without plentiful and clean fresh water. We’re lucky to reside in the mitten state and the land of not one, but two epic peninsulas. Take a moment to do your part, learn about our lakes, rivers, and streams and what you can do to take care of them both in your own backyard and throughout the mitten state. Don’t forget, clean water makes better beer!
