If you’ve spent any time drinking Short’s beer, you probably recognize the huge variety in flavor and style found in our brews. Many of the recipes and much of the inspiration for these beers originate with Short’s head brewer, Tony Hansen. Seeking to brew a beer of hybridized styles with a killer twist, Tony designed a Double Belgian India Red Ale (yes, you did read that correctly). Inspired by the song “Dolly Dagger” by Jimi Hendrix, this beer twists and contorts your taste buds in the most delectable of ways.
Dolly Dagger (7.4% ABV, 75 IBU) is a Double Belgian India Red Ale that joins big sweet malt aromas with signature fruit and spicy yeast characteristics. Flavors of toasted grain, caramel, dark fruit, and clove provide a perfect precursor to the substantial bitter contributions from the exclusive use of Bravo hops. The end result is a balanced blend of big grain sweetness, intense hop bitterness, and unmistakable yeast qualities.
