This Year marks the 10th anniversary of the liberator!

We’re celebrating the 10th anniversary of The Liberator! This beer embodies everything Joe loves about his two favorite brews, the big hop flavors of Huma Lupa Licious and the citrusy zest of Nicie. Originally brewed to surprise Joe on his 30th birthday and now our fearlessly creative leader is celebrating his 40th birthday. Join Joe at Hop Cat – Grand Rapids (12/13) and Detroit (12/15) to have a birthday pint!

The Liberator (8.5% ABV – 95 IBU) was made as a 30th birthday gift to Joe Short. As a double IPA, this beast employs a sizable malt bill, but it is the crazy amount of hops added to the boil every 4 minutes, for 120 minutes, that really make this beer special. Fruity, floral, and piney hop flavors penetrate throughout the caramelized malt profile. The Liberator is a well-balanced, full bodied brew that has a bitter finish due to the post fermentation addition of lemon and orange zest.

The name, The Liberator, came from Joe’s name for the Short’s employees who carry out our company’s mission statement as “Beer Liberators”, freeing the masses from their misconceptions surrounding beer.
