Machu Beechu: A tropical Double IPA to cure the winter blues

We’re big fans of winter here in northern Michigan. You kind of need to be, eh? While winter is beautiful and magical, it can also be tough and unyielding (also why we’re professional beer drinkers), so embracing the season in all its glory is part of life up north. But even the most weathered Michigander can get a little tired of the unending cold, so how do we lift our spirits? With a bottle release of one of our favorite tropical Double IPAs.

Machu Beechu (8% ABV – 60 IBU) is a Double India Pale Ale brewed with passion fruit and honey in collaboration with Rare Bird Brewpub. At first sniff this beer is an explosion of tropical fruit scents from mango to pineapple. Brewed with Vic Secret, El Dorado, and Mandarina hops, this beer is super dank and juicy. Initial tart and fruity flavors are followed by a dry and slightly bitter finish. With final flavors of mouth-coating honey, this IPA is a must taste.

First brewed in the winter of 2017, we selected hop blends from around the world but kept the honey for the first batch ultra local coming from the rooftop of Rare Bird Brewpub. Just the second time this beer has been brewed, look for six packs of this first time bottle release throughout Michigan starting this week and embrace the tropical flavors of this hopped up Double IPA.
