Rye Not? First Ever Bottle Release

First featured on tap at our Bellaire brewpub, Rye Not? has hit shelves for the first time all around Michigan this week! Rye Not? is a rye-dominated American IPA that was the brainchild of Aaron Smith, one of our Elk Rapids brewers. Originally one of Aaron’s homebrew recipes, the response from first co-workers then pub patrons was overwhelmingly positive and was thus approved to be bottled as part of the 2013 Short’s specialty bottle release program.

Rye Not? has massive floral hop qualities, amplified by notable rye characteristics that blend together perfectly and offer ample citrus and subtle pine fragrances, creating a truly memorable nose. The rye-based theme continues as the distinctive flavors of this grain stand out as the distinguishable malt characteristics. The focus from rye to an intense bitterness shifts quickly and lingers well into the finish, transitioning into a heavy dryness during prolonged tastes. Rye Not? weighs in at 6.5% ABV and 84 IBU.
