There’s only one Wednesday a year where we advocate that you skip your weekly #HumpDayHuma; the day we release Psychedelic Cat Grass! For the second year in a row we set out to package, deliver, stock and tap our #WithoutDelayIPA within 24 hours. And if you’re reading this post, it means we did it!
Psychedelic Cat Grass (7.6% ABV – 72 IBU) is a triple dry hopped American India Pale Ale first brewed for HopCat. Aromas of pineapple, mango, and grapefruit accompany the brew’s slightly hazy, pale orange color and lasting white head. A dry finish is preceded by balanced flavors of tropical fruit and bitter hops.
After our first release of Psychedelic Cat Grass in August 2016, we learned a lot. From new and improved shipping plans to ensuring that we’re sleeping and snacking in shifts and scheduling a second plane to Wisconsin, this year’s release of our #WithoutDelayIPA is a highly choreographed event. Planning began in earnest the day after last year’s release and hasn’t been far from our minds in the past year.
Being creatively fearless isn’t always easy. Sometimes the big risks don’t work out how you planned no matter how much you’ve prepared. Due to some issues with packaging on our canner and bottling line, we were unable to send packaged products to Indiana, Ohio, and Pennsylvania for delivery today. While we’re all pretty bummed about this, we hope the Hoosiers, Ohioans, and Pennsylvanians are able to raise a pint of super fresh beer with us as kegs will still be making their way to accounts today. Packaged product should be headed to Indiana and Ohio soon, keep an eye on our social media channels any updates.
In order to share produce and ship as much of our craziest, cat inspired brew to fans throughout the Short’s-i-verse, four-packs of 16 ounce cans, six-packs of 12 ounce bottles, and various keg sizes will be distributed in limited quantities in Michigan, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, and Wisconsin. Cans will be shipped to the states farthest from the mitten in order to save on time and weight, while locations closest to our home will be able to enjoy this unique Short’s brew in bottles.
