Short’s Brewing Pure Michigan® Autumn IPA is here
With the first week of school behind most Michiganders, the return of fall hangs in the air. As nights get cooler and the days get shorter, fall is arriving whether we like it or not. Lucky for us, Short’s Brewing does not shy away from weather, and is embracing their area’s bountiful harvest (and short Michigan growing season) with a beer worthy of Pure Michigan.
This fall brings the return of Pure Michigan Autumn IPA. Brewed in partnership with Pure Michigan as an homage to the splendor surrounding the brewery, and made with ingredients grown on Michigan farms. This quintessential IPA is balanced with hop bitterness and malty, fruited sweetness with hops grown by MI Local Hops and Hop Alliance, and malt from Empire Malting Co, Great Lakes Malting Company, and Valley View Farms.
“Michigan has proved to be an incredible place to grow hops and malt, and over the years we’ve developed some great relationships with our local farmers and use their product as often as possible. Having all of the local flavor and hard-work represented in one beer is pretty special to us.” Stated Tony Hansen, Chief Innovation Officer for the brewery.
“This year we will celebrate our 15th season in the Michigan hop industry. It’s an industry we helped foster and Short’s has been there since day one. In fact, Short’s was the first commercial brewery we sold our hops to. We are honored and humbled to be included in the Pure Michigan beer campaign.” Brian Tennis, owner and founder of Hop Alliance stated.
For the past several years, the brewery has worked with the Pure Michigan team to promote Northern Michigan tourism via this beer. This year’s events range from fall-color chair lift tours to tap events, including a pre-party the evening before the Great American Beer Festival at Dirty Laundry in Denver, Colorado on Wednesday, October 5th.
“We are once again thrilled to partner with Short’s Brewing Company, a long-standing Michigan company, to commemorate this time of year with the fourth annual release of Pure Michigan IPA brewed with 100 percent Michigan grown and harvested ingredients,” said David Lorenz, Vice President of Travel Michigan. “Michigan has a wealth of opportunities to enjoy throughout the fall season, whether it’s taking a fall color tour, visiting one of our dynamic urban city centers, exploring any number of our trails across that state, or savoring Short’s Pure Michigan IPA with friends and loved ones.”
Due to demand, Short’s moved Pure Michigan Autumn IPA from a one-time drop to a three-month seasonal run with distribution out of Michigan for the first time. For all you Michigan lovers and transplants, Pure Michigan Autumn Ale can be found on draft and in 12 oz 6 packs in Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Wisconsin, Tennessee, New Jersey, and Colorado. So kickoff your fall festivities with a fresh, cold pint of this IPA, and check out Short’s event pages for fall-themed events in your area.
