Tiagra

Abundant hop aromas of juicy mango, oranges, and papaya stream from this light bodied Double American India Pale Ale. Delicate bready malt flavors provide the perfect backdrop for showcasing the 10 different hop varieties, allowing for a range of tropical bitter fruit flavors. A sustained bitterness throughout lingers into the finish with a slight amplification due to a mild dryness.

Origin Story

After spending 6 months in California at brewers school I became accustomed to the newer West Coast IPA styles and I wanted Short's to make something like it after I got back from school. So, when Tony and I were in Birmingham on a Recon mission I talked about it incessantly and we got to try an example, Stone's Enjoy By IPA. Others would include Lagunitas Sucks. The style of beer is less bitter than most double IPAs and extremely aromatic. Tony and I figured it was made with a huge bomb of late hops to establish the aromatics and dissolve delicious hop oils followed by a substantial dry hop. Tony's super taster figured there wasn't just one or two hops in the mix, but something like 10 and no specialty malts of any kind* The name of the beer came from Tony poking fun at me because I was so excited about this type of beer when I got back. I think he was concerned that they must put some sort of Viagra in the beer in order to get me so excited. So, there it is Tiagra.

Hops

Calypso, Chinook, Delta, Brambling Cross, Amarillo, Mosaic, Galaxy, Citra, Cascade
