Short’s to Short’s 2013: Wrap-up Edition

If you were in any way involved in the 2013 Short’s to Short’s Paddle or our Summer Kickoff Party, then you know that this was the best, most fun Short’s to Short’s Paddle ever.  Although many changes were made to this year’s events, everything about the 2013 S2S Paddle and Summer Kickoff Party were massively successful.

On Saturday, after brief comments from Joe Short and Event Director, Todd Gyulveszi, participants took to the water with absolutely ideal paddle weather of low- to mid-60s, overcast skies, and no wind. With the assistance of the Grass River and Torch River currents and the stillness of Lake Bellaire, Clam Lake, and Torch Lake, paddlers entered Lake Skegemog to a pleasantly shocking surprise of a direct tailwind all the way to the finish!  With such great conditions, the 2013 Short’s to Short’s Paddle was completed by 4 p.m.  This made it by far the fastest in the event’s 5 year history.

As the gate opened for the Short’s Summer Kickoff Party, the sun broke through the clouds and stuck around until a beautiful sunset behind the stage Seth Bernard & The Family Business rocked all afternoon. An incredible group of paddlers and community members enjoyed amazing food, a wide array of Short’s brews, loads of giveaways, awesome music, and the wonderful ability to spend time outdoors once again!
