Chin Chin to Gin Barrel Aged Melt My Brain

2015 has been a pretty spectacular year here at Short’s. We’ve hosted fantastic parties, released killer beers, traveled to festivals and events throughout the mitten and the continental US, begun distribution of our new division; Starcut Ciders, and completed phase one of our pub expansion. And to top it all off, we introduced a brand new series of specialty bottled brews available only at our pub, the Private Stache series.

To date, we’ve released six 750ml Private Stache bottles – Alicornucopia, Pinball Whispers, The Creepster, Island Chomper, Maple Bourbon Barrel Magician, and Bourbon Evil Urges. Now six is pretty good, we certainly have no reason to complain. But, why have just six when you can have seven?

For the seventh and final Private Stache release of 2015 we’ll be unleashing Gin Barrel Aged Melt My Brain. As you may recall, we first released Melt My Brain, a Gin and Tonic inspired experimental Golden Ale brewed with coriander, juniper berries, limes, and blended with tonic water, at our Eleventh Anniversary Extravaganza in April 2015. This September, Melt My Brain was awarded a silver medal in the Experimental Beer category at the Great American Beer Festival in Denver, Colorado.

Due to its overwhelming popularity and our awesome hungry nature, we threw caution to the wind and decided to stash a small supply of Melt My Brain in gin barrels to be released just in time for the holidays.

Gin Barrel Aged Melt My Brain (7.1% ABV – 6 IBU) hides its true nature behind an unassuming pale yellow appearance. Aromas of resinous pine and spritzy lime dance from the glass, and carry through into the flavor along with herbaceous juniper, and a lingering gin-like finish that leaves you wondering: “did I just sip a beer, or a cocktail?”

Released in conjunction with our Annual Ugly Sweater Party, Gin Barrel Aged Melt My Brain will go on sale at the pub today beginning at 11:00 am. This beer is extremely limited. Bottles of Gin Barrel Aged Melt My Brain will cost $20.00 each and sales will be limited to one bottle per person.
