Get Local with Groundwork Center for Resilient Communities

Short’s is very excited to be a part of the first ever, Groundwork Get Local Party at The Little Fleet in Traverse City. This family friendly event takes place on Saturday, May 21st and runs from 3:00 pm -10:00 pm. Members of the Short’s team will be on-site all evening celebrating community, talking about our solar project, and probably drinking a Superfluid or two.

Get ready for an interactive celebration of community connection. Join us at The Little Fleet for local eats, live music by one of our favorite bands – The Go Rounds, and pick up a Get Local Passport for all-ages activities designed to inspire. Still need a reason to join us at the Get Local Party? See the list below for all the details.

  • Love the illustrations and murals inside The Little Fleet as much as we do? Come out and meet the creative genius herself. Traverse City artist, Brianne Farley, will be on site during the event facilitating the Strong City activity. She will be creating a mural on site at the event and will be inviting event attendees, people just like you, to contribute and help her envision just what a strong city looks like.

  • Check out the Wall of Opportunity. This is a place where people can find all sorts of ways to connect to their community. Groundwork Center and friends will feature opportunities to get involved including businesses in the area, local organizations, and nonprofits we love.

  • Dig solar power, farming and foraging, learning new things, and ridesharing? Then this is definitely the place for you. There will be activities for all ages centered around these themes and you can participate by simply showing up to the event and purchasing a Get Local Passport for only $10!

  • Hungry? Fresh from the food trucks, share homegrown dishes featuring sustainably foraged foods—a reflection of Groundwork’s commitment to getting more locally grown food into schools and institutions.

If all that wasn’t enough, there will be raffle packages from Oryana, Tee See Tee, Yen Yoga, and more. See you there!
