Short’s Fest can be described as an “adult homecoming” of sorts. Held in conjunction with Elk Rapids Harbor Days, Short’s Fest, brings our community – Northern Michigan locals, beer nerds, and Harbor Days attendees together with our Short’s family to celebrate another beautiful summer at our home in Northern Michigan. A more intimate affair than our annual anniversary party, we celebrate with live, Michigan-grown music, food trucks, tours, Short’s brews, Starcut Ciders, and the annual Harbor Days fireworks at our Production Facility nestled between Elk Lake, Bass Lake, and the East Bay of Lake Michigan.
We call our Liberators home from their posts and we welcome friends from near and far to enjoy all that Northern Michigan has to offer. Rain, shine, or epic storm, we toast with old friends and new to another year of loving what we do and where we live. Because that’s really what it’s all about, right?
This feeling of coming home has permeated our beer selection this year. This afternoon, Early Bird ticket holders will all receive a special 500 ml bottle of Creamiest of the Peach, an amped up version of Peaches and Cream (additional bottles will be available for purchase by Short’s Fest ticket holders). For those of you who don’t know, Peaches and Cream was originally bottled as a part of our 2007 Imperial Beer Series. This was an incredibly difficult (but tasty and rewarding) project undertaken by a young Joe Short right here in Antrim County. It’s often heralded as the series that helped solidify Short’s place in brewing history. You can read more about the Imperial Beer Series, here.
Creamiest of the Peach is an Experimental Golden Ale brewed with fresh peaches, lactose, lemon oil, and vanilla. Burnt orange in color with a fluffy white head, Creamiest of the Peach has aromas of peach, lemon, and vanilla. Flavors of sweet peach dominate the palate with underlying flavors of lemon and vanilla. Creamiest of the Peach is full-bodied with a creamy mouth-feel and a smooth finish. Creamiest of the Peach was brewed and bottled exclusively for Short’s Fest 2016.
So to all you Short’s Fest ticket holders, welcome home. We’re glad you made it back to the land of beaches and beer. Enjoy your time here and be sure to snag a bottle of Creamiest of the Peach.
