A Short’s Salute to American Craft Beer Week

Is it just me or does it feel a little bit more patriotic than usual to be sipping on a locally-produced, American craft beer this week? It sort of has the same feel as flaunting freedom from sea to shining sea. Welcome friends to American Craft Beer Week!

Now in its ninth year, American Craft Beer Week is the only week-long event that includes celebrations in all 50 states simultaneously. The Brewers Association began American Craft Beer Week in order to bring together brewers from across this great land to honor, according to Julia Herz of the BA, the “local and advanced beer culture” in communities nationwide. Not one to miss a party, Short’s is excited to bring some Northern Michigan personality into this nationwide homage to the craft beer community with some special events:

  1. Beer 101Beer 101 Seminar – On Tuesday, Head Beer Liberator Jon “Woj” Wojtowicz led a captivated audience through a brief history of our favorite fermented beverage along with tasting four samples of different styles. Short’s staff and community members came together for the sake of education.. and America!

  2. Appetizer & Beer Pairing – Coming up on Thursday is an opportunity for Short’s fans to experience five appetizer-beer pairings in the comfort of our Bellaire brewpub. For just $12, pub patrons will receive Greek sausage (paired with Prolonged Enjoyment), smoked whitefish pate (with Old Baldy), beer-braised short rib (with Dark Daze), lobster mac & cheese (with Autumn Ale), and caramel corn (with Aorta Ale).

Whether you’re celebrating with Short’s or in your own little corner of the Brewnited States of America, raise a pint to your country’s craft beer. Drink it in!
